Is the HP TM2T good for college?

Hello!
I’m in the process of researching a laptop to buy for college. The Hp Tm2T really intrigued me because of its touchscreen capabilities. Unlike a Macbook Pro for instance, with the Tm2 i could write formulas or diagrams for a math class. Or draw in an art class ( not that i will take art i dont know yet ) but still i think that would be alot of fun to do. Not only that but i can also type like a normal laptop.
I was able to customize this pc with the following specs for 849 dollars with free shipping ( the price is ridiculously good in comparison to a Macbook pro with similar specs )
Intel Core I-5 ULV 470 processor 1.33 ghz with turbo boost up to 1.83 ghz.
ATI mobility Radeon 5450 discreet switchable graphics ( i can switch this off and go to intel HD graphics for extended battery life )
6 GB ram
500gb 7400 rpm HD
3 USB ports, HDMI out etc
Intel Wireless N card with bluetooth
A Macbook Pro with these specs is nearly 2000 dollars. Thats over double the money. I want facts and if anyone who owns a TM2T or a macbook pro / air with these specs can answer my question that would be fantastic. Also if there is another tablet out there within the 1200 price range ( that’s my limit ) that i dont know about… that would be great to hear about too.
